THE
BEGINNINGS OF A BRIGHT STAR…
In an era of worldwide Kylie fever, where fans just can't
get enough of Kylie, her music or her live tours, creating
a Kylie show seemed the natural progression for a petite
Melbourne performer who was always being stopped in the
street, mistaken for Kylie. 100% Kylie was created and
developed by this lookalike and seasoned music theatre
performer, Lucy Holmes, and music producer Derek Bailey.
100% Kylie quickly teamed up with Melbourne choreographer
Mitchell Bartlett whose extensive work with the real Kylie
Minogue ensured exact replica choreography and dance routines.
Utilising Mitch's live onstage experience with Kylie,
Lucy captured each nuance from Kylies’ tours, video
clips and live performances. |
| THE
WORLD TOURS…
100% Kylie is the only show of its type
to tour the globe, touring countries such as Hong Kong,
New Zealand, Fiji, Dubai and Singapore, where they were
billed as ‘The World’s Greatest Tribute
Band’, wowing huge audiences with sell out shows.
Since then, 100% Kylie has gone on to tour the world
with its huge stage show, filling venues across the
globe with screaming fans. Future tours are currently
being arranged at the moment for the UK and Europe.
THE
MEDIA LOVE AFFAIR…
|

It was in 2003 that the Australian media began their love
affair with 100% Kylie. In a matter of months the show
was featured nationally on Channel 9's A Current Affair,
Channel 7 News, The Herald Sun Newspaper, numerous other
newspapers and magazines, and radio stations from Australia
to Singapore and back. Lucy even created hysteria filming
with A Current Affair in Kylie's hometown of Camberwell,
as people thought Kylie had secretly popped home for a
visit. Since that time, 100% Kylie has been featured in
every major newspaper across Australia, and has been interviewed
in magazines such as Woman's Day Magazine, TV Week, NW
Weekly, That’s Life Magazine and many more. Lucy
was even on the cover of the largest selling magazine
in the United Arab Emirates. 100% Kylie has also had a
wonderful television career, appearing on shows such as
The Footy Show, Starstruck (Grand finalist), A Current
Affair, Postcards, Mornings with Kerrie-Anne, Christmas
in the City, and many more. In February 2005, 100% Kylie
also had the privilege of being filmed, not once, but
twice with Kylie's own collection of costumes at the Melbourne
Arts Centre Kylie Exhibition. Kylie donated over 300 items
and Lucy was invited by national magazine Woman’s
Day, and national television show, Postcards, to be interviewed
alongside Kylie's’ outfits. |
THE
STARSTRUCK PHENOMENON…
In December 2004, Lucy starred as Kylie Minogue in a national
commercial advertising Channel Nine’s upcoming lookalike
series called Starstruck, based on the hit UK series Stars
In Their Eyes. Lucy was also asked to perform in Starstruck,
her performance creating a media frenzy with the media
going crazy for this lookalike Kylie. TV Week Magazine
said 'Lucy wowed the judges with her red-hot (performance)…
she's a dead ringer for Kylie!', Woman’s Day declared
that Lucy’s performance was 'extraordinary', and
ninemsn.com said that 'There was an uncanny likeness...'Kylie
Minogue appears to have a twin in Lucy Holmes!'. Starstruck
judge Doug Mulray, said live on TV, 'You are so very like
Kylie! Your butt is Kylie! I just think your performance
was gob smacking. You see a lot of Kylie Minogue impersonators,
but you don't see any as good as you. In fact I really
think your voice is stronger than Kylie's!’. Lucy
made it through the entire series until she was the only
female left in the Grand Final, an amazing television
feat. |
MEETING THE MINOGUES…
The Minogue connection with 100% Kylie has been strong
over the years. Lucy had the absolute pleasure of meeting
Kylie’s beautiful sister, Dannii Minogue at a show
they were both performing at on Channel 9. Dannii, having
heard a lot about Lucy and the 100% Kylie show over the
years, spent a lot of time chatting to her and giving
her advice about what it takes to be a Minogue! Lucy also
recently had the pleasure of performing at a Breast cancer
fundraiser, with the two very special people in the audience,
Kylie’s parents, Ron and Carol Minogue. After the
show, Ron and Carol came backstage to congratulate the
team and let them know how much they enjoyed it. Ron Minogue
told Lucy that he thought it was spooky how much she looked
like his daughter, and that she 'had Kylie down pat' and
should fill in for her if she was ever unable to do a
gig! |
| “CAN
KYLIE FILM YOUR SHOW?”
100% Kylie recently crossed paths with Kylie and her
crew whilst on her Showgirl Homecoming tour here in
Australia. Both shows, 100% Kylie and the real Kylie
were staying in the same hotel in Perth. Kylie and her
management got wind of 100% Kylie staying there and
performing in the hotel at a function that night, so
Kylie's manager, Terry Blamey and Kylie's crew came
and watched the show that night! Kylie herself sent
her very own DVD documentary film crew down to film
the 100 % Kylie show for her own records! Whether this
ends up on her documentary remains to be seen! What
an honour that they filmed our entire show… and
loved it!
